When I write articles I generally get asked about what specific terms mean for locksmiths and for those who are curious, this article will help to explain a few of them for you. You can be certain that there are a lot of strange sounding procedures and words that a locksmith uses and there will always be those who would like to know about them. The following definitions will be something that many will like, but it’s also a great tool for you should you need the assistance of an Indianapolis locksmith. One of the more curious terms is master key. With a little research you can find that a master key is one that works on multiple locks and while one key works for each individual lock, the master key is set to work on all of them in a given place.
There are a lot of people who feel that a master key is a skeleton key and I thought it would be a good idea to fill in any misconceptions about them with the definition of a skeleton key. A skeleton key is a thinly cut warded lock key, and it is cut thin to bypass the wards in a lock, and it is also a bit key that simply means it has one or more bits cut in to the key.Due to the sound of it access control system is a very misunderstood term. It is actually pretty easy to get when you look at it like this, let’s say you have an Indianapolis business and the best way to control security is to be able to have a system in place that lets only those that can be in a place, be able to enter. This will be something you can do with an access control system that will let those with proper access have the ability to enter, while you control security. The security levels of access control systems range from low, medium and high with locks, electric locks, biometrics such as finger prints and eye scans, keyless entry and CCTV.
A cost friendly and very strong and effective item in use today is the strike plate, which is widely supported by Indianapolis locksmiths. The strike will strengthen a doors defenses and there is bolt which will be installed on the floor or in the door jamb and is amazingly successful when used to stop forced entry, like kick ins. The strike plate will be the best choice for people who are looking for added protection, at cost friendly prices, no matter if it is residential or commercial.Unless you have one of these, VATS and PATS sounds extremely odd. VATS means vehicle anti theft system and they are on many of the newer automobiles you find on the streets and roads of Indianapolis, and can also be called a PASS, which is a personalized automotive security system, and the other security system is a PATS, which means passive anti theft system. With research or flipping through your cars owners manual you can find out more about these.
Most of the time no one really thinks about them. It is not that they are useless, they are simply there and a part of something. What we are speaking of helps police and law official greatly and now you can find them making their way in to the commercial access control world, and they’re fingerprints. Fingerprints, one might think, are an odd subject for an Orlando locksmith article, but when you take the time to read this you will learn about the interesting word of biometrics.
This biometrics is, without a doubt a great new part of security for commercial applications. An Orlando locksmith is regarded as the first choice as a security consultant since they are the ones who deal with security on a daily basis and when your business is looking for the top of the line defense this will be the one you want to work with to receive real and honest security. We have written about how well the Orlando locksmith know protection it is good to get to the point of your fingerprints and the why biometrics is so good.
It is a fact that a biometric security system is not for everyone. This kind of security is meant for the highest level of needs, to be sure and will really only need to be used in the most protected areas that need this. And here is where the fingerprint becomes necessary. When a biometric access control system is used it will be responsive to you. This systems learns the curves and lines of the given persons unique fingerprints, which there are no two alike and it only lets this one person to be able to have access. If it sounds hi tech it’s because it is. This biometric access control system is only going to become more popular and secure with time, but, again, this is not for the average business. If you would like to learn more about biometrics you can always look it up online, and, if you want to hear about it from someone who has worked with one, then the Orlando locksmith, who is a security expert, is the one to talk to.

Many Beachgoers In Waikiki Ignore Warnings
POSTED: 8:30 am HST September 29,

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center dropped a tsunami watch for Hawaii in the morning.
While there was no large tsunami forecast for Hawaii, officials asked that people stay out of the water until 7:30 p.m.
Even though the state’s top Civil Defense officials said people should not be in the water in the afternoon at the time the first wave might have arrived, the beaches of Waikiki were packed. The city’s fire, police and lifeguards made a coordinated announcement to Waikiki beachgoers at 1:30 p.m., 15 minutes after the time the first wave could have made the water hazardous.
With dozens of novice surfers, children and older people on the water, the announcement caused a brief few minutes of fear as people tried to call in their relatives.
“I am not sure how to take it whether to take it seriously but I assume they wouldn’t make an announcement like that if it wasn’t,” Australian tourist Heather Slade said.
If there was any affect of the tsunami it was not apparent on Kuhio Beach.
Scientists issued the initial watch at 8:05 a.m.

The quake near the Samoa Islands hit with a magnitude 8.0. It had a preliminary measurement of 7.9, officials said. It struck at about 7:48 a.m.
The seismic jolt off Samoa triggered pagers and alarms at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. Scientists rushed to the facility in Ewa Beach.
Information came pouring in. More than a dozen scientists were monitoring water level gauges around the Pacific, information from deep-ocean buoys and seismic data.
Scientists were on the phones constantly. The entire Pacific region was looking to them for answers.
“The hazard moves very quickly we have a very short amount of time to do our evaluation to get the information out to people who need it, try to protect the coast lines that are threatened,” Pacific Tsunami Warning Center Director Charles McCreery said.
Hawaii was quickly put under a tsunami watch because Samoa is relatively close and the quake was so big.
Scientists from the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory in Seattle happened to be at the center giving training in a new forecasting system. They wound up in the middle of the action, and saw just how intense things can get.
“It appears we dodged a bullet,” Adjutant Gen. Robert Lee said.
After the watch was canceled the general began shifting plans for disaster recovery to Samoa. The National Guard made arrangements for cargo aircraft that could leave as soon as Wednesday.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center said it was a strong earthquake but no tsunami warning, watch or advisory is in effect.

Cathy Wong, operations manager for McDonald’s Restaurants of Hawai‘i, Inc., said in a letter that the restaurant will close Oct. 7 “for rebuild, and will re-open some time in May 2010.”
On Tuesday, county Department of Public Works Building Division personnel confirmed that there are permits for the demolition of the existing building, rebuilding of the restaurant and construction of a new trash-enclosure facility for the property at 3113 Kuhio Highway.
The demolition work is estimated to cost $112,000, to include 4,452 square feet of the existing restaurant. The new restaurant’s floor space will be 4,860 square feet, at an estimated cost of $1.2 million.
The 266-square-foot trash enclosure will cost $21,000.
As of Tuesday, the county permits had not yet been issued to a contractor, a Building Division employee said.
Florence Gomez, restaurant manager, said the existing restaurant employees would be moved to other McDonald’s restaurants on the island, but would not say how many employees are affected.
She referred further questions to the Honolulu headquarters.
Melanie Okazaki, a former Kaua‘i resident and McDonald’s Restaurants of Hawai‘i marketing manager, said the demolition and rebuild are “part of re-imaging efforts” going on in Hawai‘i and other parts of the world, to make McDonald’s restaurants “more relevant, contemporary.”
The island’s McDonald’s restaurants, in ‘Ele‘ele Shopping Center, Kukui Grove Center, Wal-Mart, Waipouli Town Center and on Kuhio Highway in Lihu‘e, are all owned by McDonald’s Corporation, Okazaki said in a telephone interview Wednesday.
Wong’s letter says that, upon reopening, the Lihu‘e McDonald’s owners and operators will be Darlene and Frankie Chung.
Okazaki did not divulge the cost of owning a McDonald’s franchise, saying the cost depends on size and location.
“Summertime was a disappointment, but I was honesty afraid it would be worse,” Kaua‘i Visitors Bureau Executive Director Sue Kanoho said Wednesday. “It wasn’t stellar, but it was better than I expected.”
Total visitor arrivals for the 50th state did not change in August in relation to the same month last year, but average daily visitor spending fell from $176 to $153.
“We’re all equally hurting,” Kanoho said, regarding year-to-date figures for the Islands.
Only O‘ahu saw an increase — a little more than 1 percent in visitor arrivals in August in comparison to the same month last year. Kaua‘i decreased over 5 percent, the Big Island fell about 8 percent and Maui some 2 percent.
“O‘ahu has weathered the storm much better,” Kanoho said, attributing the reason to its “diversity in hotel rates.”
“Everybody is price-driven,” she said.
Ralph Young, owner of Na Pali Coast Hanalei, agreed.
Having been in business for some 35 years, he is no stranger to the economy’s fluctuations. But Young said he has never seen it drop this much.
Rather than booking catamaran tours weeks in advance, visitors have been calling “last minute” because they are “watching what they are spending,” he said.
Business is down some 50 percent for September and the last portion of August compared to last year, he said Wednesday, but the summer months were “OK.”
“The slowdown has definitely affected us,” he said.
Holo Holo Charters also has felt the impact of the tourism industry’s decline. Business has “definitely been slow,” said an employee who requested anonymity.
While “it’s hard to say” exactly how much business has slowed down from last year, “it’s not bad enough” where there are serious concerns, a Holo Holo employee said.
“We just take what comes and keep plugging away,” the employee said.
Kaua‘i is in the middle of the “shoulder period,” or “traditional visitor drop-off” which occurs after Labor Day, but Kanoho said she is hopeful that the Kaua‘i Marathon will have boosted numbers to either increase or remain steady for September.
“Any downturn in the summer is a problem, but a lot of these businesses use their peak seasons to rally through this slow time,” Kanoho said, regarding those businesses which rely solely upon visitor spending.
In an ongoing effort to encourage people to come to the island, the Kaua‘i Visitors Bureau is using $25,000 of the $1 million visitor industry county stimulus package to bring actress Mitzi Gaynor from the 1958 film South Pacific back to Kaua‘i for the weekend to reflect upon her career and her experiences on the island.
Another $25,00 is also to be spent on a “Pacific Northwest Blitz” in mid-October which includes the promotion of tourism in Seattle and Vancouver.
Visitor arrivals from the Northwest have fallen the most — over 9 percent — on Kaua‘i year-to-date in relation to the other Main Hawaiian Islands.
“We’re all challenged nationwide and the state is not any worse than anybody else,” Kanoho said.
With destination locations continually on the rise, consumers have “so many choices” and now have “distinctive price points,” she said. But, the good thing about the Islands is that they are unique and people specifically come to “relax and rejuvenate.”
An attempt to seek comment late Wednesday morning from the county was unsuccessful by press time.
